Aboriginal Business Directory

Port of Vancouver invites Aboriginal entrepreneurs and businesses to register with our Aboriginal Business Directory. The objective of the Directory is to help us learn more about Aboriginal businesses and establish a listing of Aboriginal entrepreneurs and organizations that would like to do business with us. Registration helps us to better communicate with Aboriginal entrepreneurs and organizations about potential port-related business opportunities. To be considered an aboriginal business one of the following criteria must be met:

  1. At least 51 percent of the business is owned and controlled by Aboriginal people, and at least one third of the employees are aboriginal.

  2. If the business is a sole proprietorship, it must be wholly owned by an Aboriginal person.

  3. In the case of a joint venture or consortium, at least 51 percent of the joint venture or consortium must be controlled and beneficially owned by an Aboriginal business or businesses, as defined above. Additionally, at least one-third of the value of the work performed under a contract is completed by an Aboriginal business, either by the Aboriginal partner/contractor or by an Aboriginal sub-contractor.
Special consideration may be given to those entrepreneurs or businesses affiliated with Aboriginal groups who share an interest in the lands and waters managed by Port of Vancouver.
